KYFL @ ODISHA (Know Your Forest Location in Odisha) is a location service app available on Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Developed for the Forest & Env. Department, Government of Odisha by ORSAC and FITGC Odisha, it utilizes the “Odisha RuRban4K Geo” geospatial services. The app leverages georeferenced and geotagged administrative boundaries and location data from “Odisha Rurban 4K Geo” and “OFMS” of the Forest Department.

The mobile app provides users with the geo-location of Points of Interest (POI), the name of the nearest Notified Forest Block, approximate distance from the nearest Notified Forest Block, and detailed Forest Jurisdiction information including Forest Circle, Division, Range, Section, and Beat. In addition to forest-specific data, the app offers additional Land Revenue Information related to POIs, such as District name, Tehsil, CD Block, GP, Village, Khata number, Plot number, Owner’s Name, Land Type, Area in Hectare, Police Station details (Thana Name & Code), and the distance to the Thana.

While efforts have been made to minimize geoinformatics errors in the displayed data of the app, users should be aware of potential technical errors associated with mobile devices and mapping scale variations. The data provided by this app is recommended solely for planning and management purposes. For Land Revenue-related measurements, a field DGPS survey conducted under standard operating procedures in the presence of Revenue and Forest Authorities is advised.
